NSW police charge youth over distraction-style robberies

A 14-year-old boy has now been charged in relation to an investigation into a series of distraction-style robberies in Sydney’s south-west.

Cumberland Detectives commenced investigations into the increased number of aggravated robberies and stealing offences throughout the South West Metropolitan Region by a group of youths.

As a result of the investigation a 14-year-old youth was arrested at his Guildford home about 6am today (Friday 10 May 2019).

A search of the boy’s home allegedly located multiple exhibits associated with several robberies and stealing offences including mobile phones, laptops and a knife.

He was taken to Granville Police Station where he was charged with armed robbery, robbery in company and larceny (x2).

It’s alleged these offences occurred at Auburn, Parramatta, Merrylands and Sydney CBD.

The young person was refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Children’s Court today (Friday 10 May 2019).

These charges are unrelated to the incident involving a mobile phone store at Casula and the injury sustained to an 81-year-old woman.

Investigations continue.
