NSW police investigate armed robbery at Camperdown

A teen has been charged and two offenders are outstanding following an alleged armed robbery in Camperdown overnight.

Just after 2am (Sunday 24 January 2021), emergency services were called to a Camperdown Oval, Camperdown, after reports of an armed robbery.

Police have been told three males approached a 24 and 25-year-old man, demanded cigarettes and drugs, and threatened them with a pistol.

The men handed over some personal possessions before fleeing the scene on foot, police arrived a short time later and a foot pursuit commenced.

Officers from Inner West Police Area Command arrested a 17-year-old teen nearby in Missenden Road. He was taken to Newtown Police Station.

The youth was charged with two counts of robbery in company with a dangerous weapon, and two counts of dishonestly cause financial disadvantage by deception.

He was refused bail and appeared before a children’s court, where he was refused bail to appear on Wednesday 3 February 2021.

As inquiries continue, police would like to speak with two males who may be able to assist their inquiries.

The first male is described as being of a Caucasian appearance, 193cm tall, muscular build wearing a white t-shirt, grey pant and white shoes dark and a face covering. The second male is described of a Caucasian appearance, 182cm tall, medium build, wearing a black hoodie.
