NSW police investigating after stolen car driven into river at Albury

An investigation is underway after a stolen car was driven into the Murray River earlier today.

About 7.30am (Thursday 30 April 2020), police were called to Nouriel Park, following reports a car had driven into the Murray River.

Police have been told the white Mercedes station wagon was seen doing burnouts at Nouriel Park before being driven into the river, with the driver and passengers fleeing from the vehicle.

Officers from Murray River Police District attended and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police believe the vehicle was stolen from a home in Albury between 10pm (Wednesday 29 April 2020) and 6.30am (Thursday 30 April 2020).
