A man will reappear in court today charged with 28 child abuse-related offences following an investigation into the sexual and physical abuse of a teenage girl in Sydney’s south-west.
In December last year, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation following reports a teenage girl had been sexually abused by a man known to her.
Following extensive investigations, detectives arrested a 23-year-old man at Campbelltown Police Station about 12.30pm on Tuesday 22 December 2020.
He was charged with 28 offences including;
- groom child under 14 years for unlawful sexual activity,
- intentionally sexually touch child between 10 and 16 years (x6),
- intentionally do sexual act with child between 10 and 16 years (x8),
- have sexual intercourse with child between 10 and 14 years (x10),
- assault occasioning actual bodily harm,
- common assault (x2), and,
- possess child abuse material.
Police will allege in court that the man sexually abused a teenage girl – then aged 13 – on multiple occasions between December 2019 and December 2020.
The man appeared at Campbelltown Local Court on Wednesday 23 December 2020, where he was formally refused bail to reappear before the same court today (Wednesday 24 February 2021).
Investigations are continuing.
