Detectives have charged a man over two alleged armed robberies, including one where a firearm was discharged, in Sydney’s inner-city and south-west last year.
About 8.30am on Friday 8 June 2018, police will allege a man, armed with a firearm, entered a convenience store on Cowper Road, Glebe, and demanded cash.
He allegedly stole money before running from the store.
About 6.30pm the same day, the man allegedly produced a firearm while at a service station on Boundary Road, Chester Hill, and demanded cash before firing a shot near a male employee.
No one was injured, and the man left the store empty-handed.
Detectives from the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad established Strike Force Irandra to investigate both incidents.
Following extensive inquiries, detectives arrested a 24-year-old man at Kempsey Police Station about 10.45am today (Monday 18 March 2019).
He was charged with two counts of robbery while armed with dangerous weapon, and fire firearm in or near public place.
The man was refused bail to appear at Kempsey Local Court today, where he was refused bail to re-appear at Central Local Court on Thursday 28 March 2019.
