NSW police seek information over child approach at Helensburgh

Police are appealing for public assistance over a child approach in Helensburgh earlier this week.

Police have been told a nine-year-old boy was sitting near the fence inside a school on Fletcher Street, about 11.30am on Monday (11 November 2019), when he was approached by a man.

The man attempted to give the boy a tablet, but he refused to take it. The man then threatened the boy before walking away, heading south on Junction Street.

The boy informed his teachers and parents, who notified officers from Wollongong Police District yesterday (Thursday 14 November 2019).

Police have commenced an investigation into the incident and are appealing to speak with a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

He has been described as about 157cm tall, aged in his 30s, a long brown beard, and was last seen wearing a black hooded jumper and brown tracksuit pants.
