Detectives investigating the incident that occurred at a cigarette store in Parramatta last night that left a female employee with a stab wounds to her face have now arrested a 14-year-old youth.
About 8.40pm (Monday 20 May 2019), a male entered a tobacconist in Greenway Plaza, allegedly armed with a knife.
He approached the counter and threatened a 24-year-old employee with a knife while demanding money.
An altercation occurred between the pair and the male allegedly threw a kitchen knife at the woman that hit her in the face, just missing her eye.
He ran from the store in company of a second man who was waiting outside.
Emergency services were called, and the woman was treated for a stab wound to her head and was taken to Westmead Hospital where she remains in a stable condition after undergoing surgery to remove the knife.
A crime scene was established at the store and detectives from Parramatta commenced inquiries.
About 1am (Tuesday 21 May 2019), officers attended a home in The Ponds where they arrested a 14-year-old boy.
He was taken to Riverstone Police Station and charged with robbery armed with an offensive weapon cause wounding and refused bail.
He is due to appear in a children’s court today (Tuesday 21 May 2019).
