NT Budget 2026

NT Government

The Finocchiaro CLP Government’s 2026-27 Budget passed through the Legislative Assembly today

It includes a record spend on law and order, health, and education, while providing $290 million in concessions, subsidies, and targeted household support

The budget delivers financial stability, drives private investment into the NT, and secures long-term opportunities for every Territorian

Territorians will see record investments in law and order, health, and education with the passage of the Finocchiaro CLP Government’s 2026-27 Budget through the Legislative Assembly today.

Built on the pillars of growth, certainty, and security, the budget addresses cost-of-living pressures, rebuilds the local economy, and works to repair the structural damage left by years of financial incompetence by the former Labor government.

It delivers more than $290 million in concessions, subsidies, and targeted household support, including $225 million in power and water concessions and subsidies.

Treasurer Bill Yan said the budget was delivering financial stability, driving private investment into the NT, and securing long-term opportunities for every Territorian.

“This budget is designed from the ground up to deliver real, tangible outcomes for every single Territorian and we are putting our money where our mouth is, tackling the cost of living, fixing our health system, and making our streets safer,” he said.

“We are balancing structural economic growth with competitive tax settings and practical cost-of-living relief to support families right now.

“That’s led with community safety, injecting a historic $1.73 billion into law and order because Territorians have a right to feel safe in their homes, businesses, and neighbourhoods.”

The Treasurer said most Territory businesses would continue to be exempt from payroll tax as they helped to rebuild the economy.

“For our local mum-and-dad businesses, our retailers, and our local contractors, your tax settings are locked in with the $2.5 million tax-free threshold intact so local businesses have the certainty they need to grow.”
