There were 251 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in the Northern Territory in the 24 hours to 8pm on 15 May 2022. Of these, 221 were positive cases from a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT).
There were 157 cases recorded in the Top End region, 48 in Central Australia, four in East Arnhem, nine in the Big Rivers region, five in the Barkly region and 28 are under investigation.
There are currently 22 patients in hospital. There are two patients requiring oxygen and one patient in ICU.
The number of active cases in the NT is 1,962.
Public health measures
To slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community and reduce the rate of transmission, the following public health measures are in place across the NT:
Masks must be worn in high-risk settings including hospitals, GP clinics, remote health clinics, renal facilities, aged care facilities, family violence shelters, sobering up shelters, homeless shelters, corrections facilities and disability facilities. Disability support workers need to wear a mask when undertaking home-services.Masks must also be worn in airports and on flights, in line with federal requirements.It is highly recommended that all people aged 12 years and over wear a mask when physical distancing cannot be applied.
Election day – Saturday 21 May
People in the NT who are in isolation or quarantine on federal election day, Saturday, 21 May, should visit aec.gov.au here to check their voting options.
Unvaccinated or partially vaccinated close contacts can leave isolation to vote on election day providing they:
· Wear a face mask that securely covers the nose and mouth
· Maintain 1.5 metres from other people where possible.
COVID-19 vaccination
It’s important all Territorians aged five years and over stay up-to-date with their COVID-19 vaccinations. Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 significantly reduces the risk of serious illness and hospitalisation.
The COVID-19 vaccine is available in the NT at participating GP clinics, pharmacies, respiratory clinics, Aboriginal health clinics and NT Health Vaccination Centres.
