NT Government grants support suicide prevention projects

The Territory Labor Government’s Suicide Prevention Grants are helping local organisations make a genuine difference to the lives of Territorians.

This year, 30 organisations have been awarded grant funding to back local activities and projects with the aim of bolstering suicide prevention efforts in the Northern Territory.

Grant funding of $222,750 for 2022-23 has been awarded across the Territory from East Arnhem, Big Rivers, Barkly, Central Australia and the Top End, ensuring all Territorians can access these important programs.

Grants are awarded to support activities and projects that make progress in one or more of the identified priority areas for suicide prevention:

Building inclusive communities and strengthening community resilience;Addressing stigma and discrimination;Raising awareness of effective suicide prevention practices.

This year, the Territory Labor Government partnered with the Northern Territory Primary Health Network which has contributed $150,000 towards grant funding for 2022-2023.

This is the fifth round of the NT Suicide Prevention Community Grants which to date have provided more than $1.2 million to increase suicide awareness through 160 community projects.
