NT Police deploy additional officers to Daly River following community unrest

Northern Territory Police have deployed the Territory Response Group (TRG) to Daly River following overnight disturbances.

Around 2 am yesterday, police received reports that a 21-year-old man suffered injuries from being struck with a crossbow bolt. The victim received medical treatment after being evacuated from the community.

At 1:45 am this morning, police received further reports of disturbances involving a firearm being discharged multiple times, and a house was significantly damaged. There have been no reported injuries.

It comes after reports a Toyota Hilux was stolen on Saturday morning, with 4 unsecured firearms in the backseat. The incident remains under investigation.

Daly River, Peppimenarti and Adelaide River Police continue to investigate the incidents with assistance from Strike Force Trident and TRG.

The community’s safety remains the priority for NT Police, and local police will continue to engage with traditional owners and elders to work towards restoring calm.
