Oakleigh Education Plan Published And Funding Boost

VIC Premier

The Victorian Government has launched an education plan for South Oakleigh Secondary College and local primary schools to deliver education excellence and meet the community’s future needs.

Minister for Education James Merlino today attended a virtual event to announce the publication of the Oakleigh Education Plan, which involves South Oakleigh Secondary College, Huntingdale Primary School and Oakleigh South Primary School.

He was also joined by Member for Oakleigh Steve Dimopoulos and Member for Clarinda Meng Heang Tak to announce nearly $1 million to speed up planning to deliver upgrade works at South Oakleigh Secondary College.

The funding is part of the Government’s ongoing response to support long-term economic recovery in Victoria.

Under the four-year Oakleigh Education Plan, every child and young person will receive a consistently high-quality and seamless education with the three schools connected in a learning community to share their expertise and resources. The plan also includes a partnership with the Monash Tech School.

This plan is the result of a community consultation undertaken with the schools and the wider community last year, which called for more modern facilities and more opportunities for science, technology, engineering and maths education to prepare students for a technology-rich future.

The Plan’s ‘What We Heard’ community consultation report has also been released which provides an overview of responses.
