QCS can confirm that a custodial correctional officer has been injured during an incident involving a prisoner at Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre this afternoon.
Initial information indicates that an officer was injured during a disturbance in a secure unit this afternoon.
Responding officers deployed chemical agents to subdue the prisoner, and the officer has been taken to hospital for assessment.
A crime scene has been established and CSIU will investigate the incident.
Management and senior officers are continuing to support the officer, their family and their colleagues.
