A police officer has been charged over an alleged assault that occurred last year.
Shortly before 3am on Friday 7 November 2025, police were called to an address in Ashfield following reports of a man allegedly trespassing.
Officers arrested a 32-year-old man at the scene, and during the arrest, he allegedly assaulted two police officers. The man was charged, and the matter has been finalised at court.
During the 32-year-old’s arrest, it is alleged he was assaulted by a 42-year-old Sergeant attached to a South West Metropolitan Region Command.
Following inquiries and a review of the incident, a Future Court Attendance Notice for the charge of common assault was served on the Sergeant today (Thursday 23 July 2026).
He is due to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday 3 September 2026.
The officer is currently suspended with pay.
