A serving police officer has been charged over an alleged assault earlier this year.
The incident occurred on Friday 4 January 2019, when a 16-year-old male was allegedly assaulted while in custody.
Today (Wednesday 12 June 2019), following an internal investigation, a senior constable – attached to Police Transport and Public Safety Command – was issued a Future Court Attendance Notice for common assault.
He is due to appear at the Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday 24 July 2019.
The officer’s employment is currently under review and he is on leave until further notice.
