Officer’s nose broken during Central Coast arrest, NSW

A senior constable has suffered a broken nose while arresting a man on the Central Coast.

About 12.45am today (Friday 2 October 2020), officers attached to Tuggerah Lakes Police District were called to a home on Perouse Avenue, San Remo, following reports of a domestic-related incident.

Upon arrival, police spoke with a 42-year-old man and attempted to arrest him.

A struggle has ensued before the man allegedly elbowed a male senior constable to the face.

The 42-year-old was arrested and taken to Wyong Police Station where he was charged with six offences, including assault police occasioning actual bodily harm, resist officer in execution of duty, assault (DV), intimidation, breach of AVO. The man was also charged with possess prohibited pistol, after police seized a gel blaster pistol from the scene.

He was refused bail to appear at Wyong Local Court today (Friday 2 October 2020).

The senior constable was taken to Wyong Hospital for treatment to a broken nose and facial injuries, a second officer suffered cartilage damage to his rib and lacerations to his right arm and knee.
