Officers injured, Borallon Training and Correctional Centre

QCS can confirm that two officers are receiving treatment in hospital following an incident at Borallon Training and Correctional Centre this morning.

Around 10.40am, a prisoner in a secure unit punched an officer in the back of the and put another in a headlock and threw them to the ground.

The prisoner was restrained by officers and was escorted to the Detention Unit and the prison was placed into lockdown.

Both officers were checked and the medical centre and were transported to hospital for treatment.

Management and senior officers are continuing to support the officer, their family and their colleagues.

Prisoners who assault officers may face additional criminal charges and further prison time.

They are also subject to internal disciplinary processes, including loss of privileges.
