OMCG member charged with firearms offences

A member of the Hells Angels OMCG will face court today over firearms offences after a firearm was found at his Happy Valley home last night.

Detectives from the Serious and Organised Crime Branch, assisted by STAR Group officers, attended and searched a Happy Valley home just before 7pm on Monday 27 June.

Detectives located and seized a hand gun along with ammunition capable of being fired from it.

A 26-year-old man from the home was subsequently arrested.

Police believe the man to be a member of the Hells Angels Outlaw Motorcycle Gang.

The man was charged with breaching a firearms prohibition order and aggravated possession of a handgun which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.

He remains in police custody and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today.

Detective Superintendent Billy Thompson, Officer in Charge of the Serious and Organised Crime Branch, said “SAPOL will be relentless in the pursuit of members and associates of OMCG’s who choose to put the community at risk by arming themselves with firearms”.

Police ask anyone with information about the unlawful possession of firearms to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
