Welcome to the latest edition of On Good Authority. This fortnight, we take a closer look at the 2024 National Inventory Report(Opens in a new tab/window), which shows Australia needs to reduce emissions faster to stay on track for the government’s 2035 target of 62-70%. There are also 2 new Australian Carbon Credit Unit methods which draw on First Nation fire carbon management practices. And there’s good news about the emissions of Australia’s highest greenhouse gas emitting facilities in recently released Safeguard Mechanism data.
