Police conducted a recent two-day traffic and drug operation in the Ingham district which resulted in 15 people charged on 34 offences including producing and possessing illicit drugs such as methylamphetamine and cannabis.
The operation, code named Operation Haydos, saw phase 1 occur on Thursday, June 13 with police establishing a static intercept site at Rollingstone targeting unlawful drug activity and drug driving.
Police conducted 192 random breath tests, 11 roadside drug tests with three drivers testing positive (methylamphetamine and cannabis). Officers also issued traffic infringement notices for defective vehicles (2), fail to display p plate (1) and speeding (2).
Two Ingham men aged 25 and 27 are both due to appear in the Ingham Magistrates Court on July 11 to face charges of driving while relevant drug present in blood.
Phase 2, on Friday June 28, saw police execute 12 search warrants in the Ingham district with police arresting 12 people on 31 charges.
Police will allege they discovered approximately $36,000 in drugs which included cannabis (leaf, seeds and resin), drug utensils, a sophisticated hydroponic cannabis crop with 15 plants, methylamphetamine, pharmaceutical drugs and two knuckle dusters.
Some of those arrested include a 57-year-old Forrest Beach man charged with producing and possessing dangerous drugs (cannabis), possession of drug utensils and possession of property suspected of having been used in connection with an offence under the Drugs Misuse Act (hydroponic growing equipment and fertiliser) after police executed a warrant at a Wattle Street property. He is due to appear in the Ingham Magistrates Court on July 25.
A 24-year-old Ingham man and 29-year-old Ingham woman were charged with possession of dangerous drugs (methylamphetamine) after police searched a Perkins Street, Ingham home.
A search of a different residence on Wattle Street, Forrest Beach resulted in an 18-year-old local man charged with possessing dangerous drugs (ecstasy and cannabis) and possession of a drug utensil.
Police from Ingham and Halifax, along with the dog squad participated in the operation with Officer-in-Charge of Ingham Criminal Investigation Branch, Detective Sergeant Andrew Bye advising local police would be conducting similar operations in the future.
