Sunshine Coast police investigating alleged hooning and alleged anti-social behaviour across the area have now charged several persons with over 50 offences.
As part of Operation Victor Nemesis, officers from the Sunshine Coast Highway Patrol, Tactical Crime Squad, and with support from the Child Protection Investigation Unit, executed search warrants at local addresses yesterday, January 10.
As a result of the searches, it will be alleged that officers located and seized drugs, drug utensils, large quantities of money, digital devices and vehicles.
Since Operation Nemesis commenced in October 2023, investigations have led to more than seven people being arrested on more than 50 charges and 60 traffic infringement notices (TINS).
An 18-year-old Marcoola man was charged with four counts of dangerous operation, one count of possess tainted property and issued 10 TINS.
A 17-year-old Tewantin boy was charged with five counts of dangerous operation, one count each of wilful damage, possess dangerous drug, possess utensil, and issued 10 TINS.
A 19-year-old Little Mountain man was charged with one count each of possess dangerous drug and possess utensil.
A 19-year-old Beerwah woman was charged with four counts of type 1 notices served re dangerous operation, one count each of possess dangerous drug, possess utensil, possess things, supply drug and issued eight TINS.
A 16-year-old Beerwah girl was charged with one count each of possess dangerous drug and possess utensil.
A 26-year-old Mons man was charged with six counts of dangerous operation, 12 counts of summary offences act and type 1 wilfully create undo noise, one count of tainted property, one count of drug diversion, one count of 1 vehicle forfeiture and 30 TINS.
An 18-year-old Pelican Waters man was charged with four counts of dangerous operation, issued 15 TINS and one vehicle seized was for mechanical inspection.
A 22-year-old Beerwah man was charged with one count of dangerous operation, six counts of summary offences act, issues one TIN and one type 1, 90-day impoundment.
It is expected that more charges will be brought forward in the coming days following examinations of seized electronic devices.
Officer in Charge Highway Patrol Sunshine Coast Senior Sergeant Shane Panoho said investigations are ongoing.
“Safety is our top priority, so we will not tolerate hooning and anti-social behaviour on Sunshine Coast roads as it puts the driver and everyone else on the road in extreme danger.”
