Operation Tango Donati update

Police have arrested six people on more than 100 charges in the first 24 hours of Operation Tango Donati.

Acting chief superintendent Rhys Newton said the dangerous criminal behaviour by a small group of offenders would not be tolerated by police or the community.

“Yesterday Townsville police commenced Operation Tango Donati to target the offenders committing these burglaries and car thefts and arrested three men and three teenage males on 104 charges overnight.

“The operation will continue to target recent serious offending of burglary and car theft.

“Thank you the to Townsville community for their ongoing support and to those who provided information.”

The charges relate to multiple offences including a break in at Hodel Street, Rosslea and the theft of a Honda Civic and Suzuki S-Cross at midnight on December 7. The Suzuki was located burnt out at 3.10am the same morning and the Honda was located damaged at 4am. Also, a burglary with violence on December 6 at 3.30am at Lashmar Crescent, Deeragun where a Dodge Journey was stolen and located burn out in Hermit Park at 4pm the same day.

A 20-year-old Condon man has been charged with four counts of car theft, two counts each of arson, stealing and armed robbery and one count each of burglary, dangerous operation of a vehicle, entering a premises with intent and possessing dangerous drugs. He is due to appear in Townville Magistrates Court today.

A 19-year-old Rockville man is due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court today charged with four counts each of attempted entering a dwelling with intent, entering a dwelling with intent and car theft and one count of burglary, dangerous operation of a vehicle, obstructing police and possessing tainted property.

An 18-year-old Palm Island man has been charged with 10 counts of attempted entering a dwelling with intent, five counts of burglary, three counts of car theft, two counts of entering a dwelling with intent and one count each of attempted car theft, dangerous operation of a vehicle, driving without a licence and wilful damage. He is due to appear in Townville Magistrates Court today.

A 17-year-old Wulguru male has been charged with seven counts of burglary, six counts of attempted entering a dwelling, five counts of entering a premises with intent, four counts of car theft and one count each of attempted car theft, arson and fraud. He is due to appear in Townville Childrens Court today.

A 16-year-old Palm Island male has been charged with seven counts of attempted entering a dwelling with intent, three counts each of burglary and car theft and one count each of driving without a licence and entering a premises with intent. He is due to appear in Townville Childrens Court today.

A 16-year-old Townsville male has been charged with four counts of stealing, two counts each of attempted entering a dwelling with intent and car theft and one count each of entering a premises with intent and receiving tainted property. He is due to appear in Townville Childrens Court today.
