Operation Uniform Beads at Gold Coast

Police have arrested nine people as part of the culmination of a two-month long operation targeting the trafficking of dangerous drugs on the Gold Coast.

‘Operation Uniform Beads’ was launched by the Gold Coast District Criminal Investigation Branch in June following intelligence indicating the trafficking of heroin, methadone and cannabis.

Following comprehensive investigations, three search warrants were executed on Tuesday (August 2).

It will be alleged that at a residence on Burleigh Street, Burleigh Waters, detectives uncovered approximately 126 grams of heroin, 624 grams of cannabis, 12 bottles of methadone, $30,000 cash, mobile phones, tick sheets and multiple drug utensils.

At a unit on the Gold Coast Highway, Miami, detectives allegedly uncovered approximately three grams of heroin, 2.4 grams of cannabis, electric scales, $480 cash and contact booklet.

Following a search of a Ford Falcon utility, detectives allegedly located six grams of heroin, $850 cash, tick sheets, mobile phone and box of suboxone.

Nine people were arrested on 50 charges:

A 59-year-old Burleigh Waters man was charged with three counts of trafficking dangerous drugs, two counts of possessing dangerous drugs and one count of possessing anything used in the commission of a crime.

A 55-year-old Burleigh Waters man was charged with three counts of trafficking dangerous drugs, two counts of possessing dangerous drugs and one count of possessing utensils and possessing property obtained from trafficking.

A 52-year-old Coolangatta man has been charged with three counts of trafficking dangerous drugs and one count of possessing anything used in the commission of a crime.

A 54-year-old Currumbin Waters man has been charged with three counts of trafficking dangerous drugs and two counts of possessing dangerous drugs.

A 52-year-old Varsity Lakes man has been charged with three counts of trafficking dangerous drugs and two counts of possessing dangerous drugs.

A 59-year-old Miami woman was charged with three counts of trafficking dangerous drugs, two counts of possessing dangerous drugs and one count of possessing anything used in the commission of a crime.

All six are scheduled to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court on August 17.

A 60-year-old Miami man was charged with three counts of trafficking dangerous drugs and one count of possessing anything used in the commission of a crime.

He is scheduled to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court on August 18.

A 51-year-old Miami woman was charged with three counts of trafficking dangerous drugs and one count each of possessing dangerous drugs, possessing property obtained from trafficking, and possessing anything used in the commission of a crime.

A 61-year-old East Lismore man has been charged with three counts of trafficking dangerous drugs, two counts of possessing dangerous drugs and one count each of possessing anything used in the commission of a crime and failing to dispose of a syringe.

Both are scheduled to reappear at the Southport Magistrates Court on September 13.
