Gang Crime Squad detectives have laid drug trafficking charges on a man in Southbank.
Police were in the area as part of Operation United when two males were spotted in the vicinity of Power Street about 10pm on 17 September.
The men were searched and one of the males was allegedly found to be in possession of cannabis, amphetamines and prescription drugs.
A 25-year-old Braybrook man has been charged with traffick drug of dependence, commit indictable offence on bail, three counts of possess drug of dependence and breaching the Chief Health Officer directions.
He has been remanded to next face Melbourne Magistrates Court on 19 October.
A 27-year-old Carlton man was issued a $1652 infringement notice for breaching the Chief Health Officer directions.
The arrest forms part of Operation United, an operation targeting a range of high harm offences including robberies, aggravated burglaries, armed robberies, car jackings and assaults.
The operation kicked off in Melbourne’s north west suburbs last week and brought together police from a range of units across the North West Metro Region (Division 3) and Crime Command as part of a joint effort to deter and disrupt an anticipated increase in a number of criminal offences as COVID-19 restrictions ease.
