Outgoing Aurora Energy CEO recognised

Guy Barnett, Minister for Energy and Renewables,

The Tasmanian Government would like to acknowledge the significant and dedicated contribution of the Aurora Chief Executive Officer Rebecca Kardos, following the Chair’s announcement today that Ms Kardos has decided not to seek another term with the organisation when her contract ends in February next year.

Ms Kardos has headed up Aurora Energy since 2014 and during those eight years has made an immense contribution to Tasmania’s energy sector, including leading the GBE’s 250 strong staff and working to assist Tasmanian energy consumers.

Ms Kardos has led Aurora Energy during a time of great change in the national energy market, including an extremely challenging period during the COVID-19 pandemic when nation-leading supports were announced for Tasmanian customers and the organisation’s staff transitioned to working from home in just a few days, all the while keeping this essential service maintained.

I’d like to support the Chair in her tribute to Ms Kardos when she says that Rebecca Kardos has been a wonderful CEO for Aurora Energy and will leave a lasting legacy.

The Tasmanian Government extends Ms Kardos our best wishes in her future pursuits and Aurora Energy is working through an executive recruitment process for a new CEO to be in place from March 2023.
