Paramedic’s candidacy was “a threat” to Labor official

Simon Behrakis, Liberal Member for Clark

Liberal Member for Clark, Simon Behrakis, said more toxic divisions have emerged in Labor’s candidate ‘team’.

“After running a strong self-nomination game for the papers, Hobart Councillor and paramedic Ryan Posselt was sensationally snubbed in both of Ms White’s candidate announcements – despite slots in Clark still being left open,” he said.

“It’s understood that Labor’s State Secretary – and Bec White loyalist – Stuart Benson felt his own Clark candidacy would be ‘threatened’ by Posselt should he be endorsed.

“This comes as no great shock to Tasmanians, after factional opponent David O’Byrne was similarly blocked from running for the party he’s been a member of for decades, in a Machiavellian attempt to shore up Bec White’s leadership.

“Benson was the architect of White’s previous two failed State election campaigns and himself a former failed candidate for Labor Senate preselection.

“By forcing Posselt out of the race for nomination for his own benefit, Benson has exposed just how toxic, divided and self-interested Labor is.

“The only jobs Labor are interested in are their own.”
