Parliamentary flood appeal raises vital funds

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has thanked generous donors who have added $126,661.40 for victims of this year’s Queensland floods.

That’s the final figure raised in just one night at the Queensland Parliament Flood Appeal.

It adds to a total of $10 million raised by the Queensland Flood Appeal.

“The generosity of Queensland people never ceases to inspire,” the Premier said.

“It’s even more special when you think just six months before we held a similar fundraising event for the drought and yet donors were prepared to help out again.”

The flood appeal split donations between established charities including St Vincent de Paul, Australian Red Cross Society, the Salvation Army, Uniting Care and Givit.

Giveit connected more than 211,000 items to people who needed them.

The Queensland Parliament flood Appeal, held at Parliament House, was jointly hosted by the Premier, Leader of the Opposition and the Speaker.
