From Dale Dickson, Chief Executive Officer, City of Stonnington:
The City of Stonnington has identified and corrected a payroll error that meant a number of current and former employees were not paid correctly for overtime worked.
Council has self-reported the error to the Fair Work Ombudsman.
The error dates back to April 2019 and was found through an internal review. It was caused by a problem in Council’s payroll system’s overtime and penalty rate calculations. This has now been corrected.
On behalf of the Council, I express our sincere regret for the error and acknowledge the impact on our current and former employees.
The estimated total value of repayments, including interest, amounts to approximately $600,000 and all impacted current employees have been identified and contacted directly with personal advice.
All former employees who are similarly impacted have been identified and will also be contacted and provided with personal advice.
We are committed to working directly with all current and former employees who are affected, and the Fair Work Ombudsman as we resolve this matter.
