PD Axe makes arrest at Smithfield

PD Axe caught a man allegedly stealing scrap metal at Smithfield this morning.

Just after 3am Friday 10 December police were called to a business on Samuel Street after reports that someone had been seen inside the premises with a torch.

Northern patrols called for the assistance of a Dog patrol while quickly and silently cordoning the business. PD Axe arrived at the scene and was sent in to search sneaking up on the man catching him by surprise as he was still rummaging through property.

In his possession police allegedly located tools and stolen scrap metal.

The 29-year-old Munno Para West man has been charged with being unlawfully on premises, going equipped, theft and possess prescribed equipment. He was bailed to appear at the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on 14 January.
