Perth robbery incident – second person charged

Perth Detectives have charged a second youth after an incident at a department store on Murray Street in Perth on Thursday, 30 September 2021.

It is alleged around 3pm, a group of male youths entered the store and the group were concealing clothing items on their person, in an attempt to steal the clothing items.

This was observed by store security, and when the juveniles left the store, without attempting to pay for any items, security stopped them outside the store.

During the incident a security guard (a man in his 50s) was pushed from behind, causing the guard to fall and strike his face on the concrete. He was taken to Royal Perth Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

An 18-year-old male from East Cannington has been charged with Common Assault. As he was 17 at the time of the offence, he will appear in the Perth Children’s Court on 12 November 2021.
