Pioneer Settlement Open Day

Pioneer Settlement is hosting a volunteer open day on Tuesday, 2 May from 10.30am. Join us, and experience what it could be like to volunteer at one of the happiest visitor destinations in the region.

Swan Hill Rural City Council’s Mayor, Cr Les McPhee urges anyone who has contemplated becoming a volunteer to come along.

“Attendees will learn more about what unique volunteering opportunities are available at the Pioneer Settlement, with our current volunteers providing demonstrations in various areas across the site.

“Currently, we are seeking to fill vacancies for a vintage car driver and drapery and music shop assistants – the open day is the perfect opportunity for people to get some insight into these volunteer roles and many more”. Cr McPhee said.

Friends of the Pioneer Settlement president, Peter Pryor said there are many great aspects that come with being a volunteer here.

“We have a great team and it’s a pleasure to be able to show visitors and locals our beautiful site and all its interesting and unique objects.

“My personal favourite is starting the old noisy tractors, but the Lanz Bulldogs are a customer favourite along with the 1922 Dennis fire engine,” Mr Pryor added.

Mr Pryor said they are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers of any age and/or background to join our wonderful community.

“You don’t have to be of the Pioneer Settlement era or have any knowledge to get involved, we welcome volunteers young and old, and we provide the necessary support for you to deliver the role.

“Please come along and learn more about how you can help Pioneer Settlement be an even better experience for visitors, we’d love to meet you,” Mr Pryor said.
