Planning gets underway for GLOW2680 Christmas events

Christmas may still be a few months away, but plans are already in place for this year’s Glow2680 Christmas program.

Glow2680 is set to illuminate the city with a series of festive events. The program includes the highly anticipated Rotary Christmas Carnival and Glow2680 lights launch, Carols by Candlelight, the Star Shopper competition and the Christmas Lights Competition.

Rotary Club of Griffith representatives met with Council recently to confirm they would help kick off the festive season again, with the Rotary Christmas Carnival and Glow2680 lights launch in Memorial Park on Friday, 1 December 2023.

Set to be a fun-filled evening, the event will include various activities such as a chance to win hams and other prizes, face painting, a jumping castle and an arts and craft station, while eagerly waiting for the lights to illuminate the city.

Santa will make a special appearance and the talented Lorraine Sutton singers will grace the stage, providing the perfect festive ambiance.

Griffith Mayor, Councillor Doug Curran said he looks forward the Glow2680 events this year.

“We had a fantastic turnout last year for the launch and Rotary Christmas Carnival,” Councillor Curran said.

“The Park was packed with so many smiling faces. It was wonderful to see.”

Residents and visitors can look forward to the return of the shooting stars, the community Christmas tree, walk-through bauble and twinkling archway. Adding to the excitement, the Glow2680 Star Shopper competition is set to begin on 1 November 2023.

Mark your calendars for Carols by Candlelight, which will be presented at the Griffith Community Stage, Community Gardens, on Sunday 10 December 2023. Join us for an enchanting evening of carols and heart-warming community spirit.

Stay tuned for more details and updates as the festive season draws nearer.
