Existing uses will be protected and additional sporting and recreational opportunities explored as part of a request for proposal process for two community facilities.

Willoughby City Council has issued a request for proposal (RFP) document for the Willoughby Park bowling and Chatswood croquet club sites.

Both sites have open space areas, and clubhouse facilities, which have the potential to support expanded community-level sporting and recreational offerings.

The Willoughby Park bowling club site (pictured right) is located at the southern end of Willoughby Park.

It contains three bowling greens (two currently in use), a clubhouse with bar, a residential unit, commercial kitchen facilities, change rooms and toilets and off-premises public car parking (35 spaces)

The Chatswood croquet club site (pictured below) is located at 699A Pacific Highway, Chatswood. It contains three croquet greens, two lawn tennis courts and a clubhouse and small maintenance shed.

The RFP makes it clear that any additional or expanded offerings at the above sites would need to retain and build on existing bowling and croquet uses.

This initiative is consistent with a number of priorities from the Council’s recently-adopted Our Future Willoughby 2032 Community Strategic Plan, including:

  • Create recreation spaces for all
  • Promote an active and healthy lifestyle
  • Create desirable places to be and enjoy
  • Balance population growth and development with quality of life; and
  • Activate local spaces in creative ways
