The purpose of the program is to increase the number of free or affordable activities for young people in our City.
We heard from young people in the community who said they want more chances to do sports, arts, and social activities like meditation, environmental work, and group gaming sessions.
Young people also like activities that help positively reflect their identity, reduce loneliness, and protect the environment.
Grant categories
There are two types of grants:
- Get Involved (Category one): individuals aged 12 to 18 can get up to $500 per application.
- Recreation Programs (Category two): organisations can get up to $15,000 to provide programs for groups of young people aged 12 to 18.
To get a grant for an individual, they must be 12 to 18, and a parent or carer needs to apply. The parent or carer will manage the funds if the application is successful.
Organisations can apply for up to $15,000 to run programs for young people. The programs can be new or expand on existing ones. Youth participation is important in planning these programs.
How to apply
Youth Access Grants are all about helping young people have more fun and meaningful experiences in Port Phillip. Here’s how to apply:
- Go to our Youth Access Grant webpage
- Make sure you or your organisation is eligible. Before you apply, read through our guidelines to ensure you meet our eligibility criteria.
- Familiarise yourself with our assessment criteria in the guidelines. This will give you an idea how your submission will be assessed.
- Attend our online information session on Tuesday 5 December from 10 am to 11 am. This will give you a better understanding of the grants.
- Attend our grant writing workshop on Tuesday 12 December from 6 pm to 8 pm. This will give you a clear understanding of how to best write your application.
