Residents and motorists are advised to expect changed traffic conditions along the southern end of the Plumpton Road corridor when road closures come into effect from Monday 3 August 2026, weather permitting.
The closures are required for major civil works in the delivery of the $66 million project for the duplication of Plumpton Road, intersection upgrades and enhanced infrastructure.
The NSW Government has invested $49.57 million in the project through the Accelerated Infrastructure Fund Round 3.
Council’s Executive Manager – Major Projects Darryl Woods said the detailed design has been finalised, with works teams mobilised ready to commence work on the staged pavement construction.
“The first stage of pavement works will involve the closure of Plumpton Road, south of the Lloyd Road intersection, and Aspen Road at the intersection with Plumpton Road, from early August through to approximately November 2026,” Mr Woods said.
“It will be followed by construction on the sections between Gregadoo Road and Lloyd Road, Stringybark Creek works, and then Springvale to Gregadoo Road.
“It’s expected there will be changed traffic conditions in these zones as the pavement works progress, including intermittent lane closures, and, in some cases, temporary full road closures, reduced speed limits, temporary traffic lights and stop/go locations.
“Council and contractors have been working closely with directly impacted residents and businesses to try to minimise disruptions to access and traffic flow.
“We understand these disruptions will also cause some inconvenience for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians who use the Plumpton Road corridor, but we ask for your patience and encourage you use alternate routes where possible.”
The road pavement construction activities are running concurrently with sewer and water main works across the 5.2-kilometre project corridor.
