Police appeal for information following hit and run in Darlington

Police are appealing for information after a pedestrian was struck by a car in the inner-west today.

Shortly after 5am (Sunday 20 January 2019), emergency services were called to Shepherd Street, Darlington after reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a car.

A 26-year-old man was treated at the scene and taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

Officers from Redfern Police Area Command established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist police from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit.

The vehicle which struck the man did not stop and is believed to have continued north along Shepherd Street, before briefly returning to the scene and driving away in a southerly direction.

As inquiries continue, police are appealing to locate a vehicle described as a silver 2002-2006 Holden Commodore sedan.
