Police appeal for public help: Hit and run at Wynnum, QLD

Police are appealing for public assistance after two people were seriously injured in a hit and run incident at Wynnum overnight.

Initial investigations indicate at approximately 11pm the two pedestrians were walking towards Charlotte Street when a black 2018 Nissan X-Trail with Queensland registration SA4B1 travelling on Bay Terrace struck them.

It’s believed the driver exited the vehicle for a short time before getting back into the car, reversing up Bay Terrace and turning right onto Berrima Street.

The vehicle was later abandoned on Wynnum Esplanade North.

The two pedestrians, a 39-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man, sustained serious injuries and were transported to hospital.

Investigators are appealing to the driver of the black 4WD and anyone who may have witnessed or have CCTV/dashcam footage of the incident to contact police.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
