Police appeal for witnesses following Craigieburn serious assault

Transit Crime Investigation Unit Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously assaulted at Craigieburn Railway Station this afternoon (19 February).

Police were called to Potter St about 4.20pm following reports of an assault.

It is believed two men were involved in an altercation on a train about 4.17pm.

The two men then got off the train at Craigieburn Railway Station about 4.20pm before the victim was assaulted by the unknown man in the bus bay area.

The victim, aged in his 30s, sustained critical injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment.

The offender fled the scene on foot.

He is perceived to be Maori or Pacific Islander in appearance, approximately 178cm tall, and aged in his early 20s.

Police are keen to speak to any witnesses in the area or anyone that may have footage of the incident.
