Police are responding to fatal collision in Montrose

Police are currently at the scene of a fatal collision in Montrose.

It’s understood a truck collided with a car on Mount Dandenong Road about 3.45pm.

That car then collided with a third vehicle, which then collided with a fourth vehicle.

A female passenger in the car initially struck but the truck was declared deceased at the scene.

The male driver of that car has been airlifted to hospital in a critical condition.

No one else sustained injuries.

The driver of the truck is assisting police with their enquiries.

Detectives from Major Collision Investigation Unit have been notified and will attend the scene.

Mount Dandenong Road, between the Montrose roundabout and Canterbury Road is closed westbound.
