Police are responding to serious crash – Myaree

Officers from the Major Crash Investigation Section are investigating a serious crash that occurred in Myaree last night, Saturday 17 September 2022.

Around 8:20pm, a police vehicle was travelling on Stirling Highway under priority two conditions, responding to an unrelated matter. This vehicle was travelling with activated lights and sirens at the time.

A white Toyota Camry was observed, travelling at speed and approaching the police vehicle from behind. This Camry quickly overtook the police vehicle and continued on Stirling Highway at speed.

Near the intersection of High Street, police have deactivated lights and sirens, and called for the driver of the Camry to pull over.

The driver continued onto High Street, and so police reactivated lights and sirens in an attempt to stop the vehicle.

The Camry failed to stop, travelled at speed towards Leach Highway and a short evade police incident ensued.

Around 8:22pm, the Camry contravened a red light, travelling through the intersection of Leach Highway and North Lake Road in Willagee, before colliding with a Jaguar sedan and a Volvo.

The male driver of the Camry was conveyed to hospital for treatment of injuries. He is aged in his 30s.

The female driver and male passenger of the Jaguar received serious injuries and were conveyed to hospital. They are both aged in their 50s.

The male driver of the Volvo was uninjured. He is aged in his 60s.

Due to the serious nature of the crash, which occurred during an evade police incident, officers from the Major Crash Investigation Section will review the circumstance surrounding the crash, with oversight from the Internal Affairs Unit.
