Police arrest driver after pursuit at Vale Park, South Australia

A driver was arrested after a police pursuit ended at Vale Park overnight.

Norwood patrols spotted the grey Volkswagen on Barnes Avenue, Glynde at 5.15am on Tuesday 28 December and the driver refused to stop for police. The vehicle then wove its way west towards Vale Park.

The vehicle was abandoned in Fife Street, Vale Park and the driver ran off.

The 38-year-old female passenger remained at the scene and assisted police with their inquiries. The driver jumped fences, but was located a short time later by Police Dog Stoic in Hamilton Street, Vale Park with a cut to his leg.

The 33-year-old man was arrested and charged with engage in police pursuit, drive disqualified and state false details. He was also charged with drug possession after officers allegedly found a quantity of methamphetamine.

Further investigations have also resulted in him being charged with a break-in and theft from the Murray River Queen in October.

He has been refused police bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court tomorrow. Inquiries are continuing.
