Police arrest driver after stolen car found at West Beach, South Australia

A man has been arrested after a pursuit with a stolen car at West Beach.

Police will allege that about 2.45am today (Wednesday 29 December), officers saw a stolen black Ford Territory station wagon travelling east on Sir Donald Bradman Drive.

The car was also bearing two different number plates.

Extra patrols were called to the area, and the Territory was seen heading east on Grange Road, then southbound on Findon Road.

The pursuit was terminated soon after, as the Ford was seen driving eastbound on the wrong side of Henley Beach Road near Holbrooks Road.

Police Dogs Jax and Stoic were called to the scene to assist patrols in the search. The vehicle and driver were found in Chatswood Grove at Torrensville.

The driver had climbed on to the roof of a house to try and evade capture, but jumped off soon after and was arrested.

The 26-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with numerous offences including drive dangerously to evade police, illegal use of a motor vehicle and being unlawfully on premises. He also had an active parole board warrant.

The man was refused bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.
