Police arrest five after thefts at eastern electrical stores

Police have arrested five teenagers after electrical items were stolen from a Doncaster Shopping Centre and an attempted theft at a Camberwell store last week.

It will be alleged a group of youths attended an electrical goods store in Camberwell and unsuccessfully attempted to steal products about 3pm on 13 December.

The same group stole a large quantity of items from an electrical goods store at a Doncaster shopping centre about 4.30pm the same afternoon.

Members of the Eastern Region Crime Squad subsequently executed four search warrants across Truganina and Point Cook, arresting one teenager on Monday and four others today.

A 17-year-old Truganina boy was charged with theft and attempted theft and appeared at a childrens court where he was bailed to appear at a later date.

A 16-year-old Point Cook boy was charged with theft and attempted theft and remanded to a childrens court at a later date.

A 17-year-old Truganina boy and 15-year-old Point Cook boy have been charged with theft and attempted theft and bailed to face a childrens court at a later date.

A 16-year-old Point Cook boy received an official caution.

“Police will continue to work closely with retailers to quickly identify and apprehend offenders that commit these types of crimes, deploying detectives and highly skilled investigators to disrupt this type of offending,” Eastern Region Operational Support Crime Inspector Matthew Baynes said.
