Police arrest four after crime spree in Chifley

Four men have been arrested by police investigating multiple crimes committed in the state’s Central West.

Officers from Chifley Police District have been investigating four incidents that occurred between 10.15pm yesterday (Tuesday 11 May 2021) and early today (Wednesday 12 May 2021),

  • At 10.15pm a 35-year-old man was allegedly stabbed, and his car stolen, during an aggravated break, enter and steal in Macquarie Street, West Bathurst. The man suffered two stab wounds to the leg and was taken to Bathurst Health Service in a stable condition. Just before 1am the vehicle was destroyed by fire in Limekilns Road, Forest Grove
  • A 52-year-old man was asleep in his car in Stephens Lane at 12.20am, when he was allegedly assaulted and robbed. He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics
  • A samurai sword was thrown through the passenger side window of a vehicle travelling along Lambert Street, Bathurst, at 2.30am. The car was damaged but there were no injuries
  • About 5.55am, a motorcycle was reported stolen during an aggravated break and enter in Moresby Way, West Bathurst.

Officers from Chifley Police District were conducting inquiries in Moresby Way, about 6.30am, when four men arrived at the location. Officers stopped a man walking towards the premises while allegedly armed with a lump of wood. The man fled the scene in a vehicle with three other men.

About 7.30am, police attended an address in Bannerman Crescent, Kelso, and arrested three men aged 24, 25 and 32; a 27-year-old man was arrested at Cummings Street, West Bathurst, shortly before 1pm.

All four men remain in custody at Lithgow Police Station, as inquiries continue.

Police are investigating if all four incidents are linked.
