Police arrest four after stolen car sighted in Edithvale

Police have arrested four males after an allegedly stolen white Range Rover was dumped in Oakleigh East early this morning.

Officers first observed the car on Rae Avenue, Edithvale, just after midnight on Tuesday, 14 June.

Members kept sight of the vehicle as it travelled through the southern suburbs and called the Air Wing in to assist.

The Air Wing attended and followed the Range Rover to Woodfull Street, Prahran, where a passenger is alleged to have dumped what was later found to be a sawn-off shotgun in a bin at that location.

The Air Wing continued to follow the Range Rover and stop sticks were deployed on Dandenong Road at the intersection of Warrigal Road just after 12.15am.

The vehicle continued for a short distance before coming to a stop on Dandenong Road near Leumear Street and four offenders fled the car.

A number of units were called to the area including local vans, detectives and the Dog Squad.

A search of the area located the four alleged offenders nearby.

The Range Rover was allegedly stolen from Box Hill on 29 May.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, with information or dash cam footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.auExternal Link.
