Police arrest man after home invasion and robbery in Merrylands

Police have charged a man following a three-month investigation into an armed robbery in Sydney’s west.

On Tuesday 9 July 2019 at about 3am, a man answered a knock on the door at his home on Woodville Road, Merrylands.

As he answered the door he was allegedly pushed backwards by a man who entered his property.

The man allegedly produced a machete knife and held it to his throat, before three more males entered his house.

It is alleged that the man holding the knife demanded money, before another man struck the resident with a pool cue.

The group allegedly took possession of a sum of money, cigarettes, a wrist watch and a phone before leaving the property.

Officers from Cumberland Police Area Command were called to the location and established a crime scene.

Following inquiries, on Thursday 3 October 2019 police arrested a Croydon Park man who was taken to Bankstown Police Station.

He was charged with aggravated enter dwelling whilst armed and robbery armed with offensive weapon.

The teenager was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court tomorrow (Saturday 5 October 2019).
