Frankston Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested a man following an incident in Langwarrin where two police officers were assaulted last week.
Officers had been patrolling the Langwarrin area when they located an unoccupied stolen car on Aqueduct Road.
A man and a woman approached the officers and allegedly attempted to get into the stolen car.
A fight ensued during which a female officer was punched in the face.
It is also alleged that the male offender attempted to grab a police firearm while threatening to kill officers and encouraged his counterpart to get into the car and run the members over.
Officers arrested a 41-year-old Langwarrin woman at the scene, but the male offender ran off.
The woman has been charged with reckless conduct, resist police, theft of motor vehicle, possess dangerous article, possess drug and other charges and was bailed to appear at Frankston Magistrates’ Court on 22 November.
Detectives have since arrested a 40-year-old Langwarrin man who has been charged with over 60 offences, including assault police, theft of motor car, handle stolen goods, drug offences and bail offences.
He has been remanded in custody to appear at the Frankston Magistrates’ Court later this morning, 16 June.
During the arrest of the Langwarrin man, which took place in Mont Albert, two of his associates, a 47-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman, arrived at the location in a stolen car.
They were also arrested with the man being charged with theft of motor car, handle stolen goods, possess proceeds of crime and traffic offences.
He has been remanded in custody to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court later this morning.
The woman is expected to be charged on summons with theft of motor car, handle stolen goods, proceeds of crime and drug offences.
