Police arrest man after Nurmurkah death

A man is currently in custody following the death of a man in Nurmurkah last night.

Police have been told the 55-year-old Nurmurkah man went to investigate a noise outside his property in Prentice Lane before a suspected gunshot was heard about 8.50pm.

The man was found injured and sadly died at the scene.

A 58-year-old Caniambo man was taken into custody this morning and is currently assisting police with enquiries.

Both parties are known to each other.

Detectives from the Homicide Squad are investigating and a crime scene remains in place.
