Police arrest man over multiple breaches of COVID-19 directions, South Australia

A man has been arrested for failing to comply with COVID-19 directions after entering South Australia from Victoria.

Police will allege about 6.50pm on Sunday 2 August, a man attempted to enter SA at a Pinaroo border check point however was refused as he did not meet the essential traveller status. He re-attended 30 minutes later and was again refused entry.

The man drove off however officers later discovered that he did not return to Victoria but in fact filled up with fuel at a nearby service station before travelling into metropolitan Adelaide.

Investigations led police to a Wingfield address about 9am this morning (3 August) where a 31-year-old man was arrested.

Police will further allege that since the start of April, the man has breached directions of the Emergency Management Act on seven other occasions.

The Wingfield man has been charged with eight counts of breaching directions of the Emergency Management Act. He has been refused police bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court tomorrow.
