Police arrest pair after stand-off on Ipswich rooftop

Police have charged a man and woman following a stand-off in Ipswich today.

Police attended a Brisbane Road business shortly before 11am to speak to a man when he and a woman fled, running up an internal staircase and onto the roof.

The pair stayed on the roof until around 7.40pm when police negotiators were able to convince them to come down.

They were both taken into custody without incident.

A 21-year-old woman from Burdell in Townsville has been charged with unregulated high-risk activities, obstructing police, committing a public nuisance and wilful damage.

A 23-year-old man from Rosslea in Townsville has been charged with unregulated high-risk activities, obstructing police and breach of bail conditions.

The pair are due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on June 24.
